AVALANCHE INFORMATION CENTER

Current Avalanche Danger  03/12/08    Low

Avalanche terrain--where the slope angle is between 30 and 45 degrees--combined with intense snowfall virtually guarantees avalanche activities of some variety.  In Squaw Valley, we have many slopes between 30 and 45 degrees, and frequently experience intense snowfall.  Because much of this terrain is found in residential areas throughout the Valley, the Squaw Valley Fire Department has created this web page to provide basic avalanche awareness information.
